Bridges helps you make a real, life-long difference to children on the autism spectrum. The Bridges social curriculum has a practice based on evidence approach and was established over a 12-year clinical development period. We have integrated best research evidence, our clinical expertise of over 40 years, as well as parent and child experiences and insights into every Module and Lesson.
Being able to interpret the social world we live in helps children on the autism spectrum manage how they interact and communicate. We believe that teaching social understanding in the way autistic children think and learn best enables lasting positive outcomes.
Just like other academic subjects, learning social understanding and skills takes a structured, long-term approach. With Bridges, concepts are taught and built on one another over time to create a broad interconnected picture of how social interactions related to each other. This helps the children on the autism spectrum gain the in-depth understanding to interpret and make independent choices in social situations.
Many professionals want to provide systematic and proactive social learning but don’t always have the training, tools or time to plan detailed lessons or prepare materials. Bridges provides step-by- step lesson plans that develop social understanding and skills in an effective and engaging way.
All you need is there; including videos, posters, activities, charts and role plays.
Lessons are content rich and can be taught over two or more sessions beyond the span of a week.
Lessons are sequential as part of Paced Learning: a balanced distribution of new learning with a focus on the carryover of concepts and skills; as well as the development of a shared language in naturally occurring situations.
The following guidelines help you decide whether the Bridges social curriculum will benefit your learner.
